Here’s how to get your smart notifications to work from your spanking new Xiaomi Mi Max phone (gawd, I love its display size!) to sync and display on your Garmin Fenix 3 HR!
I struggled quite a bit to get it done, cus Xiaomi’s MIUI automatically switched off the Garmin Connect’s Smart Notifications no matter what I did.
Ok, here’s how I got my Smart stuff back!
Step 1: Go to your Mi Max’s Settings app
Step 2: Under App Settings, tap Permissions
Step 3: Tap on Other Permissions
Step 4: Tap on Connect (Garmin’s app)
Step 5: Enable Service SMS
Try it… if it still doesn’t work, here’s other stuff I did:
Step 6: Go back to the Permissions page, where you’ll see a list of stuff like Body Sensors, Calendar, Camera, Contacts etc…
Step 7: I allowed Garmin Connect on these: Calendar, Camera, Contacts, SMS, Telephone
It should work for you now, as it did for me.
Try it and let me know in the comments!
P.S. I’ll try to add screenshots later on. 🙂
Updates:
2 Jan 2017 – It seems like the MIUI still keeps switching off the Garmin app’s Smart Notifications… Hope Xiaomi releases an update soon that fixes this!
24 Jan 2017 – After the MIUI update, Smart Notifications no longer switch off by themselves, but the Garmin app seems to get shut down in the background after a while.
