Interesting rap battle from Eminem’s movie, 8 Mile.
How do you go against the odds to get people on YOUR side?
1. Do your research. Rabbit did his research on Clarence. Chances are, he also did his research on the audience.
2. Separate your audience from their current hero. Put yourself on common ground with your audience, and their hero on the other end of the spectrum.
3. Work your Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Rabbit marketed himself as being truly one of them, and positioned Clarence as the guy who lived with his parents, went to a private school etc.
4. Be honest and tell your audience the truth. Expose the things which your rival doesn’t want them to know, for fear of losing their support.
